To ensure that everyone enjoys their time here and achieves their fitness goals in a positive environment, we’ve put together this guide to gym etiquette. By following these simple rules and practices, we can all contribute to a more enjoyable and productive workout experience for ourselves and others.

1. Respect Personal Space:

  • Avoid crowding or standing too close to others during workouts.
  • Allow space for others to move freely and use equipment without interference.
  • If someone is using a piece of equipment, wait patiently or ask politely if you can work in between sets.

2. Cleanliness and Hygiene:

  • Always use a blue towel to wipe down equipment after use to remove sweat and bacteria. Put these in the blue bins after use.
  • Put all general waste in the black bins. 
  • Wear clean workout attire and appropriate footwear to maintain hygiene standards.

3. Sharing Equipment:

  • Be mindful of others waiting to use equipment and limit your time on machines during peak hours.
  • Allow others to work in with you if you are resting between sets.
  • If you need to take an extended break or leave your equipment, let others know.

4. Noise and Disturbance:

  • Keep noise levels to a minimum, including conversations, music, and dropping weights.
  • Use headphones when listening to music or watching videos.
  • Respect the peaceful atmosphere of the gym for focused workouts.

5. Re-racking Weights:

  • Always re-rack weights and return equipment to its designated place after use.
  • Organise weights in proper order on racks to make it easier for others to find and use them.
  • If you’re unsure where a particular weight or piece of equipment belongs, ask a staff member for assistance.

6. Mindful of Surroundings:

  • Be aware of your surroundings and avoid blocking pathways or access to other equipment.
  • Keep personal belongings tidy and stowed away in designated areas to prevent tripping hazards.
  • Report any safety hazards or equipment malfunctions to staff immediately.

7. Respect Others:

  • Treat fellow gym-goers and staff with respect and courtesy at all times.
  • Offer assistance if someone appears to be struggling with equipment or technique, but do so respectfully.
  • Avoid disruptive behaviour or confrontations; address any concerns with staff or management.
